Rug Experimentation
I spent a few months learning and connecting to the art of rug making and its meticulous processes from Indian, Nepalese, Iranian, and Afghani origins.
I drew inspiration especially from Maurizio Battilosi's collaboration with Lapchi Rugs.
I thoroughly experimented with light and dark, the marriage between wool, silk, and viscose textures, Bauhaus textiles, and Los Angeles grunge- here is my labor!
I was drawn to contemporary design takes on rug art that has maintained centuries old construction and craftsmanship.
The rural arts of rug making continues to prove itself a sustainable art that will continue its both traditional and contemporary legacy.
